The President signed the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 into law in July 2024 and the Government has also confirmed that the collection of pension contributions under the new auto-enrolment scheme will begin in September 2025. Organisations must therefore consider how they will comply with the new legislation and how the costs associated with auto-enrolment pension contributions might impact operations.

What is this webinar about?

The auto-enrolment legislation provides that Employees aged between 23 and 60, who earn in excess of €20,000 per year and who are not already enrolled in an occupational pension scheme, must be automatically enrolled into the new pension system. Presenter:

Brian Macdonald is the managing director of Trustee Decisions Limited, an Irish owned fully independent professional pension trustee company providing pension scheme trustee services to Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Pension Schemes. He is a well established and experienced pension scheme trustee.

Brian is a recognised pensions expert having worked in pensions technical knowledge roles throughout his career. He has over 30 years of experience in the life and pensions industry both in Ireland and the UK working with all types of pension arrangements. Prior to joining Trustee Decisions and the Newcourt group of companies, he was the head of the Life and Pensions Technical Support area for New Ireland Assurance leading a number of expert teams.

He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Licentiate of the Compliance Institute and he also holds the Pension Trustee Practitioner (PTP) qualification of the LIA. Brian is the current chair of the Association of Pension Trustees in Ireland (APTI) and he also chairs the Pensions Working Group of the Compliance Institute. He sits on the DC Committee of the Irish Association of Pension Funds (IAPF) and was previously chairman of Insurance Ireland’s Pensions Committee.
