No New Legislation to Transpose EU Collective Bargaining Directive

A spokesperson from the Department of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment recently confirmed to RTÉ that no new legislation will be necessary to implement the collective bargaining aspects of the EU Directive on Adequate Minimum Wages.

While Ireland has a relatively low level of collective bargaining coverage by EU standards, it remains unclear how the EU Directive’s requirement to promote collective bargaining will be achieved.
